Fed up with leafing through many recipe books to find the recipe I want, I decided to compile all my favourite recipes into one book. This was a typesetting exercise and I used Adobe InDesign.
The geometric-pattern theme I used for my recipe book was based on a pattern my bathroom door and light made once when I looked in the mirror. I quickly drew the geometric composition on paper, and then created it in Adobe Illustrator. I used an existing colour palette from a website. I generated a few compositions based on this first one, which I used throughout the book to add interest.
I placed the compositions into my InDesign file next to the recipes and played around with layouts. I used an online tutorial to help me understand how to create guides and align elements in InDesign.
